Description:

I am using stock Arch Kernel 2.6.32.2-2 amd64. I recently installed a new DVD-RAM device, the LG GH22LS50 SATA drive, because my older device died. Problem is that dvd writting is slow, almost constantly 0,50x speeds, although 22x is supported, and quality dvd medium is used. I tried various methods to solve this but with no success. I found a post in ubuntu forum
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1317448 , it says that there is an incompatibility with my drive and recent kernels. Since i really don't know much about the issue, i am posting this as an upstream bug for kernel. If anyone wants additional information, i will be monitoring this constantly and be happy to provide any info.

No problems here with a "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH20NS15 IL00" and using growisofs. (custom kernel 2.6.32.3).

What software are you using to write on media?
