DetailsDescription:
I think this bug report corresponds to AUR (note the git parts in filenames). After fighting a lot to make Xorg run in my notebook (ATI radeon HD 3450 GRAPHICS video) with a better driver than vesa, I finally came across xf86-video-ati-6.12.99.git20091207-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz which magically made Xorg start beautifully. Yesterday, I happily went to update with pacman -Syu, and saw that this package (along with its dependencies) was to be updated. I told to myself "go forward ! the problem won't show up again this time !" , but the sad truth is that Xorg didn't start up any longer. In particular, it complained about /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so not being able to find a missing libdrm_radeon.so.1 library. Only downgrading all proper packages with its dependencies brought my poor Xorg back to life again. Hoping this helps developers to fight the problem, haroldo -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 403251 dic 14 06:13 xf86-video-ati-6.12.99.git20091014-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz <-- this made Xorg not start -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 405094 dic 14 06:42 xf86-video-ati-6.12.99.git20091207-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz <-- this happily fixed the problem -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 411945 dic 22 22:41 xf86-video-ati-6.12.99.git20091221-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz <-- this broke the Xorg startup again Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: |
