what packages have you installed? please show your pacman.log? feel free to ldd/namcap the packages you think that are broken.

as said, I just installed xfdesktop.
The packages aren't broken, but incomplete.
It got assumed that the user install the whole xfce4, but I didn't.
That's why libxfcegui4.so was missing, because the dependencies were not putten correctly into the package description.

I wonder how you start it...

[andyrtr@laptop64 ~]$ which startxfce4
/usr/bin/startxfce4
[andyrtr@laptop64 ~]$ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/startxfce4
/usr/bin/startxfce4 ist in xfce-utils 4.6.1-2 enthalten
[andyrtr@laptop64 ~]$ LANG=C && pacman -Qi xfce-utils | grep ^Dep
Depends On : libxfcegui4>=4.6.1 hicolor-icon-theme

So there's libxfcegui4 in the dependency tree. I don't see any problem here.

I don't want to start xfce4, but I want to use xfdesktop (under icewm due there is no desktop) - and it runs well.
I just launch xfdesktop.

so the problem is to update 'xfdesktop' dependencies as from official page http://www.xfce.org/documentation/requirements

and not and XFCE4 group deps problem....

just update 'xfdesktop'

This is fixed in svn trunk now. Andy, could you uninstall optdepends before namcapping in the future? Namcap is poor at supporting link-level optdepends here.
