Bug occured in "pidgin"

Description:
When users tries to send a message containing paranthese - ")" - whole X system freezes, both input and output. Nothing helps except forced shutdown.

Packages versions:
* extra/pidgin 2.6.4-1
* extra/xorg-server 1.7.3.901-1
* extra/gdm-2.20.9-1
* core/kernel26 2.6.31.6-1
* extra/nvidia 190.42-1
* gnome 2.28.0

Additional info:
* not dependent on protocol - tried the same with XMPP (GTalk) and Yahoo
* hardware: Dell XPS M1530 laptop, Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 CPU, nVidia GeForce 8400M GS GPU
* most probably it's an upstream bug, but it's not sure that "pidgin" is responsible
* check the attached log of "pidgin --debug" (not very useful)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start "pidgin"
2. Open a IM window
3. Type any text containing parathese - ")"
4. Press "Enter" to send the message
Result: X system freezes

NOT reproductible on other machine, with the same software configuration (same version of pidgin, xorg-server, kernel26, gnome).
Machine details where the bug is NOT reproductible: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPU, ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 5954 (PCIE) GPU
OpenSource driver (radeon) is used for video.

The probability of a video driver defect increses (for nVidia).

i don't think is related to pidgin at all. maybe  FS#17472  is the same bug?

Agree... Doesn't seem to be Pidgin bug.
Not really sure if it's related to  FS#17472 , as on the second machine (where the bug is not reproductible) gdm isn't the last in the daemon list.
I'll try to use that workarroud on the machine where it was detected, and will let you know the re-test results.

After setting "gdm" the last daemon, bug is gone on testing machine.
Therefore, this is a duplicate of  FS#17472 .
