Reason for closing:  No response
Additional comments about closing:  No response for a while. Several nv driver updates in the meanwhile, which include the patches mentioned in the comments. Reopen if this still applies, but I suggest to switch to nouveau instead.

This could be related to the fix that was introduced due to #16979.

That fix has nothing to do with this bug, as the patch adds a dummy function for gamma handling for the G80.
I see you have a Quadro NVS 290, what core does it have? Fedora has more fixes for G80-based hardware, but I'm not happy with applying random patches if there's nobody reporting bugs against it.

This is the output from lspci: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G86 [Quadro NVS 290] (rev a1)

But since that is in the other but report I suspect that doesn't answer your question... how do I find out what core it has?

It's a G86, which is G80 series. You could try applying patches from Fedora's package at http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewvc/rpms/xorg-x11-drv-nv/F-12/. The doublescan patch looks most interesting for your problems, as your logs don't indicate anything wrong at all.

@Jan,

That particular patch didn't seem to improve the situation. Any suggestion on what patch to try next?
