Additional comments about closing: No response for a while. Several nv driver updates in the meanwhile, which include the patches mentioned in the comments. Reopen if this still applies, but I suggest to switch to nouveau instead.

I see you have a Quadro NVS 290, what core does it have? Fedora has more fixes for G80-based hardware, but I'm not happy with applying random patches if there's nobody reporting bugs against it.
But since that is in the other but report I suspect that doesn't answer your question... how do I find out what core it has?

That particular patch didn't seem to improve the situation. Any suggestion on what patch to try next?
