Details

convert gives an assertion error no matter what arguments I give it.

convert: magick/semaphore.c:220: DestroySemaphoreInfo: Assertion `(*semaphore_info) != (SemaphoreInfo *) ((void *)0)' failed.
[1] 15137 abort convert


Try

convert -version

to reproduce.

It might be the reason why I cannot compile with pdflatex in LyX.

A temporary solution for LyX users:

change the following line in /usr/share/lyx/scripts/convertDefault.py

fout = os.popen('convert -version 2>&1')

to

fout = os.popen('convert -version')

I get the exact same message. Tried compiling v6.5.7-8 and trunk and still no-go

This bug also affects dvdrip - unfortunately there's not such an easy workaround :(
