Description:
Hallo, if I run glxgears as normal user there is segfault, but as root it works perfectly.

[pk@myhost ~]$ glxinfo | grep renderer
OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer

[root@myhost pk]# glxinfo | grep renderer
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset GEM 20090712 2009Q2 RC3

I start X by startx command

Please provide more information. Glxgears works fine for me running as non-root. Can you please provide at least a backtrace and the actual error you get?

You need to add your user to the video group.
