Details

Here is what I did:

As root
pacman -Syu
Upgraded to openoffice 1.1.3
Upgraded to kernel 2.6.9

As user, I ran the openoffice setup, and then I rebooted.
After logging in and doing a startx, I had no keyboard response.

I did a quick scan of /var/log/Xorg.log and it says that it loaded the keyboard...

Does the keyboard work if from the console?

Can you attach the output of your dmesg log after bootup?
