While the nvidia driver package worked for me, it failed today when the kernal moved out of testing. the problem happens on loading of the module which the script is looking for in /usr/src/linux{somewhere}/nvidia.ko iirc. Basically it is not the install failing but "modprobe nvidia".Once you install the driver manually via --extract, patch and make install, it seems to not complain anymore. I didn't ivestigate the install script. Also your script is using xxxpkg0.run but there is a xxx-pkg1.run on the homepage. Dunno about the differences, though. It's 3MB larger!
My guess is, that the nvidia-installer makes some mistakes there. Using "make install" instead might be a bit rude but maybe it works.
