Details/etc/rc.d/samba chmod's /etc/passwd to 600 and it might not be the only bad thing it does, find out what's causing this, I hope samba wasn't tampered with right before the release, if you can't find the prob in your scripts I suggest we pull it out quickly as it might be in the code itself.
