Description:
I started encoding some videos to x264 (first with ogmrip, then with mencoder on commandline). ogmrip says that mencoder has not been compiled with x264-support. Mencoders output is "-x264encopts is not a MEncoder option".
The package mplayer-29776-1 has a dependency on the package x264, but 'ldd /usr/bin/mplayer' does not show anything like libx264. Neither does 'ldd /usr/bin/mencoder'.
I am not familiar with mplayer and mencoder; does this mean that mencoder has been compiled without x264-support and the dependency on the package x264 is not really necessary?
This task depends upon

It's not necessary currently, because the x264 package is too old for the mplayer version, and therefore, x264 support was not complied in. See  FS#16736 .
