Empathy should make use of NetworkManager, as both are GNOME technologies. Benefits: Empathy would notice when connection is lost, and go offline, and reconnect as soon as the connection is reestablished. Gives a more integrated feeling, when running the whole GNOME desktop. |

Additional comments about closing: no applications that is a part of gnome desktop doesn't depend on networkmanager in arch. e.g epiphany

UI is only slightly different, and it's more independent.
Your decision, I was thinking it would be nice, if we could deliver GNOME desktop which is as good as in all the other distros.
