Description:

Currently /etc/lircd/lircd.conf is sourced when running /etc/rc.d/lircd. This is not correct!

/etc/rc.d/lircd should source /etc/conf.d/lircd. Leave /etc/lircd/lircd.conf for a remote control config file (such as /usr/share/lirc/remotes/mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb) which is lircd's default place to look if not specified in the command line.

This is a simple fix.

Additional info:
* package version(s): extra/lirc-utils 0.8.6-2

Tired of getting up off the sofa to change channels ;-), some of us are rolling our own lirc-utils package with a more practical arrangement of configuration files and a little tweak for backwards compatibility with applications that look for a socket at /dev/lircd (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=640193#p640193).

Could you try lirc-utils-0.8.6-3 ?

lirc-utils-0.8.6-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz installs for me without any conflicts (there shouldn't be any ;-) and vdr / vlc / xine-ui all work as expected with my remote control. Many thanks!

Thanks Hugo. The config files are now in a more sensible location. Now if only I could figure out why irw doesn't work even though cat /dev/lirc0 does =(

I'd consider this bug resolved.
