Details

Description: after a pacman --sync --refresh --sysupgrade on oct/13/2009 Midori was exiting showing 'Illegal Instruction' on the console.


Additional info:
* package version(s) midori-0.1.10-1 with libwebkit-1.1.10-2 or with libwebkit-1.1.15.1-1
* config and/or log files etc.


Steps to reproduce:

with Midori installed, fetch the updates on 10/13 using pacman --sync --refresh --sysupgrade
notice that Midori fails to run and reports 'illegal instruction' at the console

Solution:
fetch package libwebkit-1.1.10-2 from http://www.schlunix.org
downgrade libwebkit (pacman -Ud)

What architecture? I can't reproduce it, but Illegal Instruction usually means that the CPU doesn't support the instruction, which is caused by invalid CPU optimization.

using libwebkit 1.1.15.2-1, midori crashes as soon as it is done loading www.google.com. i don't see a problem if it loads archlinux main page, for example.

i could compiled configure and build midori from source, but the behavior is the same

how to make sure it's using the new libwebkit? thanks.

I'm seeing a general need to rebuild midori after the GNOME upgrade. If you look at midori's help dialog, it "remembers" the old versions of GTK+ and WebKitGTK that it was built against. Apparently it makes some decisions based on this data - for instance, you can't turn on the ad-blocking extension since it thinks the WebKit version is too old. There's a good chance this confusion is also causing the crashes.

this issue is solved. the help dialog is ok too. and midori 0.2 is also available for download.
