What do you think about removing the listed packages from
extra?
As far as I've read it the functionality of xinerama is replaced by xrandr. The only package which is broken on my system is 4l from aur. This is a binary only program, so I can't recompile it. To be honest I don't really understand what the dga protocol is useful for, but my system works fine without it. ;-) From this post it sounds to me, that it is needed in some games: http://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-devel/2009-September/002060.html I've also seen dga as a video renderer option in mplayer, but I don't know if anybody ever uses this protocol. And to prevent some questions: no, there wasn't anything broken on my system using xinerama or dga. I just don't understand what they're supposed to do and they seem to be somewhat depricated. If somebody has some use for this stuff I would be interested to learn about, so I can understand what these are good for. |

Reason for closing: Not a bug
Additional comments about closing: Both extensions are still implemented in the server, so removing them is not an option here.

ok, removing libxinerama is perhaps a stupid idea. I just realized
that compiz also needs this.
