Description:
As the title suggests, it appears that kdebase-konqueror depends on kdebase-dolphin to run, or at least function properly. After removing dolphin, clicking an icon in the folderview desktop gives this error: "There was an error loading the module Dolphin View. The diagnostics is: The shared library was not found." Then konqueror simply fails to open. This specific error message does not show up again until I reinstall, click an icon, close konqueror, and remove dolphin again. What happens before then, however, is far worse. One of two things will occur depending on whether I've rebooted/logged out and in before doing so: A) Konqueror WILL open the folder I clicked on, infinitely, in new instances unless I ctrl+alt+backspace... which REALLY sucks if you have "restore session" enabled. B) Konqueror will NOT load, and just sit there eating 20%+ CPU per attempt to open said folder. Installing dolphin, the infinite folders thing appears to continue for about 5-8 windows, perhaps some kind of refresh time before KDE notices dolphin is back. Upon closing them, with dolphin installed, everything works fine again. I have reproduced this with fresh empty folders of .config, .local, and .kde4 all at once, so it is not likely a configuration issue. Additional info: * package version(s) kdebase-dolphin-4.3.2-2 kdebase-konqueror-4.3.2-2 * config and/or log files etc. N/A Steps to reproduce: See description. Just remove dolphin while using a folderview desktop defaulting to Konqueror and wait a minute before clicking on a folder. Weird stuff seems to happen. |

Also, on an odd note, I recall not having any trouble running
Konqueror from Konsole when clicking on an icon on the desktop
ended up with major problems A or B given in the description.
Yes, konqueror uses parts of dolphin to render its view. If you
have problems with this, you should report this upstream.
I do not have a problem with it, it doesn't much matter to me.
However, if it's impossible for konqueror to run properly without
it, dolphin should be added as a dependency.
