Today I tried to recompile an older document and discovered that the empheq package (http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=empheq) is no longer included in texlive. Could this be added again? I think it originally resided in texlive-latexextra but I'm not totally sure.

The mh bundle, which includes empheq, is now part of texlive-latex3. Unfortunately, it was omitted in the last release of the latter (don't ask me why...)
I am releasing a fixed version now (texlive-latex3 2009.15493-2). (NB: I don't know why the mh bundle is now associated with latex3. I simply follow upstream categories in this respect.)

In any case, thanks for your report. It confirms again that Arch users indeed make good use of the texlive packages :)
