With GNOME 2.28 arriving, it's time to make esound an optional package, which is currently not the case.

Here is the list of the packages which requires esound. I think for all of them that esound should be an optional dependency (except maybe enlightenment?).

* bmp
* cinelerra-cv
* enlightenment
* epplet-base
* freeciv
* gmerlin
* gstreamer0.10-good-plugins
* kvirc
* kvm
* libgnome
* qemu
* vice
* xine-lib
* xmms

And by the way, why are bmp and xmms still in extra ? Those projects have been dead for ages and replaced by audacious.
This task depends upon

Reason for closing:  Implemented
Additional comments about closing:  All community packages listed that don't explicitly depend on esound have been rebuilt with esound as an optdepend. All other packages are in extra. Please open another ticket specifically for the packages in extra in the appropriate location.

I guess that this is better to discus in arch-general, this involves both extra and community packages. Please for next time, open one task for each issue.

PS: xmms-1.2.11, is dead true, but just works fine and is really fast, lightweight, simple, cute and practical, in other words is the best mp3 player on the universe ;)

xine-lib & gstreamer0.10-good-plugins: Work fine with esound an opt-depend

What's the status on this?

Only libgnome has been re-packaged without esound. It would be great if at least xine and gstreamer could be re-packaged to (cf James).

cinelerra-cv requires esound
gmerlin rebuilt as optdepends
kvirc rebuilt as optdepends

As the rest are in extra, I am closing this ticket. If you want them to be rebuilt without esound or as an optdepend, please open a ticket in the proper tracker.
