Description:
After update to 1.6.x xorg experienced crash with nvidia drivers (Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting).

The solution is simple: due to nvidia`s official driver manual most people should use xxx.pkg1.run.
In PKGBUILD i found xxx.pkg0.run. Changing to pkg1 and rebuilding packages solved the problem.
Additional info:
* package version(s)
extra/nvidia-96xx
extra/nvidia-96xx-utils
version 96.43.13-1

I think that the only difference between pkg0 and pkg1 is that pkg1 have precompiled modules for some distros like Fedora, Ubuntu, etc...

Anyway you can confirm that works?

Yes it works for my machine. Not sure for others.

I tried replacing pkg0 by pkg1 in the PKGBUILDs. nvidia-96xx-utils built just fine, but I couldn't get nvidia-96xx to work, please see attached file for output. I also tried upgrading to xorg 1.7 but no luck with that either. Ideas, anyone?

i think the reason is in these lines from your output.
...
The kernel you are installing for is a Xen kernel!

The NVIDIA driver does not currently work on Xen kernels.
...
This is not a Nvidia-96xx bug since you are making a custom package for custom kernel.
