DetailsI am currently using KDEmod as my desktop environment, but I use Evolution because of its Exchange capabilities. However, after installing evolution, some icons are missing; most noticeably the calendar and alert icons.
The version of evolution I have installed is 2.26.3-1. I can fix the issue by installing gnome-settings-daemon and adding it to Autostart. Additionally, I've added the following line to my ~/.gtkrc.mine: gtk-icon-theme-name="oxygen" In order to fix the issue, I think that at the very least, gnome-settings-daemon should be added as an optional dependency for evolution. |

Gtk already does a fallback to the "gnome" theme, which should fallback to the hicolor icon theme also. All icons needed for evolution are in the gnome-icon-theme package. Gnome-settings-daemon isn't needed for icons to show up in evolution, unless something is forcing a different setting for the fallback icon theme.

Well, I'm not making this up. The gnome icon theme works also, but I settled on oxygen because it is more consistent with the rest of my KDEmod setup. I don't know if something is forcing another setting. I'm using QtCurve, not GTK-Qt-Engine or QGtkStyle, in case you were going to ask next. I do know that, at least in my case, icons work with gnome-settings-daemon, and they do *not* work without it.

What is in your /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc file?

gtk-fallback-icon-theme = "gnome"

Status? Does evolution 2.32.1-1 works? Perhaps we should just close this...

I don't use Evolution or KDE anymore, so I can't test it. My guess is that the bug is still present, but if it will give you "closure" to close the bug, it won't bother me, personally, anymore.
