ln -s /usr/lib/libFLAC.so /usr/lib/libFLAC.so.4
--with-xmms-prefix=/usr
so the package maintainers would not need to care about having xmms installed.
libflac: hmm ... seems that flac itself changed something (they do not longer provide the /usr/lib/libFLAC.so file), so other programms are in trouble because of it ... best would be to make flac provide it (e.g. by symlinking it in the pkg flac)

the maintainers are me and i have xmms always installed (it was installed about 3 years ago and never removed) ... you are right that the PKGBUILD needs a mroe general rule for it (by providing makedepends) ... however, --with-xmms-prefix=/usr is not needed, as amarok should detect it with ./configure, i'm quite sure

I did not make myself clear, I was refering to flac package, not amarok package. I wrote in this particular bug report because it seems the problem is in the flac package, not amarok, and I noticed another bug in the same flac package - the flac plugin for xmms is not present (but it has been in previous versions of flac package). I don't even have amarok installed.
The funny thing is, amarok and flac are the same version right now, i.e. 1.1.1-1 (I didn't notice this till now. I mean, what are the odds for that!?!) and that's why you (Damir) misunderstood me.
Anyway, probably the same reply you wrote for amarok goes to flac, too?
the version 1.1.1-1 for both is really funny - sorry for misunderstandment --- if you are sure that flac xmms plugin is a packing problem, you can post a bug against flac (this bug is concerning amaroks not starting any more, what is an other problem that is only related to flac update)
now it launches fine again
i'll upload it now
amarok needs rebuilt against new tunepimp then it works again
thx tobias for the fixed tunepimp
