Would be great to have gpsd automatically launched on the proper device when pluging in the gps device.
Debian already has this packaging feature.

community/gpsd 2.39-1 is available already.

I don't know what's the official way, but you can add this rule manually without so much overhead, like we do it in case of automounting USB devices e.g. (this is publicated on the related wikipage)
