We'd prefer you do an initial rsync from one of the mirrors listed on the wiki page that has rsync access (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mirror).

From there, you may want to read the directions located here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Local_Mirror

@Roman,Dieter- are you guys looking to take on this mirror thing? I can guide you through the usual steps we take sometime, get in touch with me over jabber or something sometime.

I don't really have time to work on the mirror todo's for Arch.
But I can spend some work hours at the company to provide a new AL mirror ;-)

okay. we're set up. It's configured to rsync from mir1.archlinuxfr.org/archlinux (which is in my end-user experience a reliable, up to date mirror)
We have multi-Gbps uplinks but the mirrors NIC is only 100Mbps.
url's (hostname is incorrect in original ticket!):
http://archlinux.mirror.kangaroot.net/
ftp://archlinux.mirror.kangaroot.net/pub/archlinux/
rsync server is not setup because i couldn't find the documentation for it.

okay we've set up rsync also: rsync://archlinux.mirror.kangaroot.net::archlinux
so on our side all is good

Can you give us rsync access? or are we supposed to keep syncing from the archlinuxfr ?

mirror@mirrorhost:/home/mirror$ telnet archlinux.org 873
Trying 66.211.214.131...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host
mirror@mirrorhost:/home/mirror$ telnet archlinux.org 80
Trying 66.211.214.131...
Connected to archlinux.org.

also, can we be added @ http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mirror

Please use rsync.archlinux.org, not archlinux.org.
