The 'provides' variable in go-openoffice is unversioned. However, openoffice-ja (and perhaps other language packs?) requires openoffice-base >= 3.1.1. Thus, when you attempt to install openoffice-*, pacman finds that the dependency is unsatisfied and propopes to remove go-openoffice. So there's no need for a versioned provides array.
