Description:

'qemu -enable-kvm' is not working properly. If I type 'info kvm' in qemu monitor it says that kvm is enabled, but still qemu with -enable-kvm switch is extremey slower than qemu-kvm.

Additional info:
qemu 0.10.6-1

I meant kvm, not qemu-kvm :)

Do you have kvm installed and module loaded?
Comment by Blaž Tomažič (billy) - Saturday, 05 September 2009, 09:36 GMT
Yes I have moudules kvm and kvm-intel loaded.
Also I noticed that with kvm package command 'info mem' shows me a bunch of memory addresses while qemu doesn't show anything.

Please report this to upstream, qemu/kvm can help a lot more ;) (At least on AMD works very fine)

qemu with kvm support is not the same as the kvm package, they merge in stuff much later.
Probably an issue in upstream and not solvable.
Just one not your are in kvm group and your /dev/kvm has root:kvm permission?

I am in kvm group and /dev/kvm has root:kvm permissions. So then I should report this to qemu bugtracker?
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Monday, 07 September 2009, 16:18 GMT
Yes, then this seems a bug in qemu.
Alternativly you can use the kvm qemu which is more bleeding edge.
