Description:
Pidgin doesn't appear to require any dictionaries as dependencies. This is very annoying since the spelling correction feature is enabled by default and it complains about every word. It should pull in aspell-en by default, or the correct dictionary for the user's locale.

I agree that the current configuration is not the best one possible.
As I see it, there are 3 main options:
1. Turn off aspell in pidgin by default.
2. Make aspell a dependency.
3. Make aspell an optional dependency.

the post_install of aspell mentions installing dictionaries. What if your locale is nl_NL or de_DE for example? You'll need a dutch or german aspell dictionary then.

even aspell itself does not pull aspell-en, so I don't see a reason why pidgin should
