DetailsDescription:
From the latest installer on my mirror (mirror.rit.edu/archlinux) I find that pacman upgrades must be applied in order. I installed base and base-devel groups, first boot and root login succeeded with no issues. Priority upgrades include glibc and readline (and pacman) and bigg errors result if these aren't applied first. Haven't sorted through them all to see what's causing the problems, but after pacman -Suy my root login fails -- regular users (if you did create any) are still available for login. This is a bug, right? Tried the instructions in http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=597591 to disable root password checking, but even with no password, I still get "Login incorrect." and dumped back out at the login prompt. Anyone seen this before? Thanks, Kingdon |

I guess you don't have the new tty terminal names in your /etc/securetty after the update mentioned in this News:
http://www.archlinux.org/news/454/
If root tries to login from a non-secure terminal it gots revoked.
