Description:

KDE help center crashes on startup when kdelibs3 (3.5.10-5) is installed.

If kdelibs3 is installed at the same time as kdebase-runtime (4.3.0-2), starting the KDE help center crashes with the following error:

"!!!!!!! ERROR !!!!!!! - KHTML default stylesheet version mismatch. Aborting. Check your installation. File used was: /opt/kde/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css. Expected STYLE_VERSION 1"

To fix this, simply move (or remove) /opt/kde/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css.

Could you check with kdelibs3 -6?

Still the same. The file in question hasn't changed.

Strange, I cannot reproduce this problem. Did you relogin? khelpcenter shouldn't know about those files in /opt

Hmm, interesting. I've actually had the crash for a while; ever since KDE 4.0
I did relogin, and I also tried moving my ~/.kde directory to see if that helped.

How does KDE derive the paths it checks for css files? Maybe something is up there.

Ok, got it. I installed kdemod3 while I was waiting for KDE 4 to become stable enough, and it apparently left /etc/profile.d/kdemod3.sh behind when it uninstalled, which adds these paths to XDG_DATA_DIR.

So this is a kdemod bug, and I will request it be closed here and (maybe) reopen it there. Thanks for the assistance.
