Details

Description:
When updated to version 185.18.31-1 of the nvidia driver X will consistantly lock up. The screen goes black and the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive.

extra/xorg-server 1.6.3-2

extra/nvidia-utils 185.18.31-1
core/kernel26 2.6.30.4-1

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have a Dell D630
2. Upgrade to the above versions of nvidia and nvidia-utils
3. Reboot
4. No X :-(

Downgrading to

extra/nvidia 185.18.14-1
extra/nvidia-utils 185.18.14-1

solves the problem.

With every new version of nvidia drivers some hardware is fixed, some is broken.
We cannot help here. Please report all such bugs to Nvidia.
BTW, there is 190.xx series already, you may want to try them.
