Description:
I try to compile php from abs. There are imap and smtp-server in makedepends. I installed imap, than try to install smtp-server.
[junq@neverminder ~]$ sudo pacman -S smtp-server
warning: provider package was selected (courier-mta provides smtp-server)
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: courier-mta conflicts with imap. Remove imap? [Y/n]

This is not a bug in php PKGBUILD, but Pacman specifics in handling 'provides' - it takes the first package it finds and in this case there is a conflict.
Just install any other package that provides smtp-server before building php.
