DetailsSummary and Info:
I migrated from Gentoo, and one of the things that I didn't like was USE flags. I knew what uses I wanted when I installed the package, but a few years down the road my needs would change and I would need to reconfigure the system and update world with new use flags. To me optdepends resembles a quasi USE flag scenario. It would be nice to have a pacman argument to install all optdepends as depends (--optasdeps). Also, some sort of query flag to manage what packages are installed with optdepends and list which optdepends are and are not installed. I realize these flags are not for everyone, but I've gotten to the point where I don't mind the bloat of extra packages, as long as I know the package installed is feature complete. |
