DetailsBefore the update to texlive 2009 from the testing repo the following command give me a pdf with type1 (vector) fonts

Perhaps you could run
sudo updmap-sys --syncwithtrees
and try again?
sudo updmap-sys --syncwithtrees
And dont works. I reinstalled texlive 2009 and now it works ok. (reinstalling is not pretty solution but worked...)
" sudo fmtutil-sys --all"
I followed this instruction that is showed when texlive-core is upgraded from 2008 to 2009. The command "pdflatex sample2e" is correct using type1 fonts.
