I think lame and XMMS libmpg123-plugin should be compiled with FPU/MMX/3DNow!(/SSE) support. I'm sure these builds will be run on all i686. You can find the details here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=7158 I may upload here the libmpg123.so for test. I uploaded the super-fast GOGO-no-coda mp3-encoder to incoming.
