Description:
Samba4 is now in alpha, and is not capable of replacing samba, this is admitted candidly by its devs http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4. However, it does add some capabilities samba does not have. My concern is with evolution-mapi, which depends on samba4 being installed for some of its functionality. I'd like to request that samba4 be made available as an option, the simplest method would be to have it conflict with samba (current version I have is 3.3.6). This would:- a) Presumable by much simpler than having samba4 installed alongside samba. b) Be a conscious choice by users. Samba4 should be labelled explicitly as alpha, of course. c) Enable exchange 2007 functionality in Evolution, mainly for office environments. |

My opinion is that the best way to do this at this moment, is
providing the package in AUR by you or any other interested user.
Thank you. I have attempted this but without success as yet. I
will make the appropriate request.
