Details

The gnome installation - without anything added - creates a starter for the root-terminal, even if there is no virtual terminal installed.

by gnome installation you mean installing only 'gnome' group?

Yes, only the x-server an gnome (core) installed.

This is because of sudo. I don't even think future versions of gdm will include the sudo dependency, as everything will or should be handled by policykit.
