As was being discussed on the mailing list, a package being disowned should send a notification to users subscribed to that package. I'd also extend it to package adoptions.
2021-04-13: A task closure has been requested. Reason for request: This already works. There is email when package gets adopted, disowned, merged or deleted.

It sounds a good idea now too, you can gain information if your favourite package was disowned, and you can adopt it, and after it the notification for adoption is required too.

Update: now we get notifications (mail) when maintainer change, the git repo now containing the package get updated, there is a new coment.

I'm not sure if we get notification if is adopted, orphaned, merged or deleted. but all work if you are subscribed to the package notifications.
Anyone can test if get the remaining 3 messages when subscribed to a package notifications?
