I don't know. This is the only version I have had installed on Arch Linux. I used Fedora before and rhythmbox recognised it fine.
Also, This is not the latest version of rhythmbox. I'm not using the latest because it doesn't minimise to tray (that should be another bug report :P)
Comment by Jan de Groot (JGC) - Sunday, 05 July 2009, 08:40 GMT
The minimize to tray "bug" is a preference option which is disabled by default. There's no reason to use older versions.

Can someone verify whether Rhythmbox is recognising iPod in the latest version?

Someone? Shouldn't you be the one who want to do this? ;-)
I doubt many people are watching this bug, so it's better to ask some archer who does have it - use forums or mailing list.
(I do not own iPod so I don't know if rhythmbox recognizes it)

I can confirm that this bug seems to be fixed.
Rhythmbox recognizes my mounted ipod (nano 2nd gen.)

Notes:
rhythmbox 0.12.5-1
Don't forget that you need to have the ipod plugin enabled in rhythmbox.
