DetailsDescription:
The current MadWifi drivers don't work. The module does not load properly and fails to activate the device. Google mentions many cases when the error message mentioned below can be seen. However, all of those mailing list messages propose solutions that simply don't work. (For example, adding the country code to the list of module parameters should solve the problem. Apparently, this is not true.) Additional info: Using a vanilla kernel 2.6.29.4. (Changed kernel version to `uname -r` in PKGBUILD.) Module command line: options ath_pci autocreate=ap countrycode=203 xchanmode=1 AFAIK, the last kernel version this worked with was something around 2.6.28.9. * package version(s) madwifi 0.9.4.3952-5 madwifi-utils 0.9.4.3952-1 * config and/or log files etc. ath_pci 0000:01:06.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 MadWifi: ath_getchannels: Unable to collect channel list from HAL; regdomain likely 48 country code 203 ath_pci 0000:01:06.0: PCI INT A disabled Steps to reproduce: Install just about *any* version of MadWifi drivers... * the version from current ABS with the old closed-source HAL. * versions from SVN (madwifi-svn and madwifi-utils-svn) with the old HAL. * versions from SVN with the new open-source HAL (whichever of them). ...and then modprobe ath_pci. It will fail. |
