Description:

After installation of eclipse-3.5-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz, there was no site listed for updates in eclipse->help->install software.

http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo should be added as default.

I definitely see this and agree. Anyone have any idea why or how to fix it?

I don't recall ever having to add the default update site anywhere in previous releases.

So far, what I know is that the following file gets modified when I add the Galileo Update Site from the interface:

.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.5.0_1543616141/p2/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.engine/profileRegistry/SDKProfile.profile/.data/.settings/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.artifact.repository.prefs

Here seem to be the relevant line added:

repositories/http\:__download.eclipse.org_releases_galileo/nickname=Galileo Update Site

I also have seen this problem. But the user should be able to remove this. Because in an unwanted update of eclipse things can stop working. This happened to me today. And this is more annoying than get not things to work. In this case, I would prefer a hint in the wiki.

It seems crazy that there seems to be no documentation anywhere on how to do this. Does anyone know how to do this? If not, I'm going to close this in April as "won't implement"-- primarily because doing so seems like it would either be very difficult, or a gross hack, or both.
