Description:

KVM segfaults on start after kernel upgrade to 2.6.30. Worked before. Seconded in the following thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/post.php?tid=74743

Tried building upstream KVM package, same issue.

Additional info:
* KVM-86 from core. Kernel 2.6.30. Also tried self built KVM-87 using Arch PKGBUILD, same issue.

Steps to reproduce:
- Start virtual machine using qemu.
- Segfault as guest OS tries to load.

"Segmentation fault qemu-kvm -hda /kvm/winxp -no-acpi -k en-us -vga std -boot c -m 1024 -net nic -net user"

Is this still an issue with 2.6.30.1? There's some kvm changes i that version.

Updated to 2.6.30.1 in testing. First attempt, windows started loading, but then the whole box crashed. Subsequent attempts produce same segmentation fault...

using kvm-intel or kvm-amd? with kvm from qemu pkg works qemu -enable-kvm ...?

I'm using kvm-intel on the box that segfaults.

I actually did a fresh install of kvm and built a new winxp image and everything works with kernel 2.6.30-5 i686 on a new box. So it may be something specific to my config or an issue with the older image I have of xp.

This is still an issue because I would like to be able to access my old, pre 2.6.30 image.

Try the latest version of kvm and kvm modules from here http://sourceforge.net/projects/kvm/files/, there are many many fixes.

@Tobias: For me this works (Linux), Alex can only reproduce this bug with an old installation of your winxp, the new inst works OK. We can do much more here.
