Description:
Update to kernel26-2.6.30 makes my workstation unusable because of the lack of kernel-headers-2.6.30. I use vmware-workstation and it needs its modules to be rebuilded every kernel major upgrade. It can't be done because kernel-headers are still for 2.6.29. I can stay witch kernel26-2.6.29 and wait for kernel-headers upgrade, but I can't install cdemu-client for now because it needs vhba-module which is for 2.6.30. Again - my workstation is broken now. I know, I can download kernel sources from ftp.kernel.org, but if I do that, why do I need kernel-headers package? Why to keep it in repos? Can you release kernel-headers together with every major kernel upgrade and keep it in sync, please? Additional info: * kernel26-2.6.30-* * kernel-headers-2.6.29-* * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: 1) Upgrade system to kernel2-2.6.30 (kernel-headers are still 2.6.29) 2) Try to run vmware-workstation or compile any kernel module from external sources. |

Reason for closing: Not a bug
Additional comments about closing: kernel-headers needs to be in sync with the kernel headers glibc was built against and is independent of the running kernel.
