Description:
ive requested when i jumped into the arch bandwagon the patch proposed in kernel  bug 9905  to be included in the arch kernel patchset.

the patch helps my notebook and others with a certain configuration to boot.
there is a new way to overcome this issue that doesnt involve patching, and thus, its preferred. im filing this "bug report" so that the patch can be flagged as obsolete and removed in order to follow the KISS principle and remove unneeded cruft.

another issue that needs to be addressed if the patch is remvoved is that, a new patch needs to be included so that the reserve paramenter for amd64 works.

im attaching the patch to remove,

patch to apply for the 64bit version: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13253

maybe waiting for the commit to hit the mainline kernel is good enough (i dont use the 64bit version, and im not sure anyone with this notebook does).
