Details

There is an LD flag that is supposed to increase startup times greatly. This flag seems to have no negative effects:
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1"

Note: Some apps don't read LDFLAGS, so It would be added to CFLAGS instead.

-Wl allows linker optimization
-O1 is the level of linker optimization
