I'm using ipython for development purposes.. Today I realized that it started to append an additional space each time I use the autocompletion feature (TAB key). For example if I wanted to reach a module in a package (bar under foo), I write:

from foo

and press tab this happens:

from foo[extra space here]

and this forces me to remove the space, put a dot after foo and so on...

I checked ipython (if I had updated it these days) but the latest update was in 17.05.. and i just realized that readline in testing is updated.

I have readline-6.0.00-1 btw..

I've found this article [1] that looks like the same issue.

the following packages have been compiled against testing/readline btw, so I can't downgrade readline to test my assumption.

[23:42] (tunix@penguix ~)$ y -S core/readline
uyarı: readline paketi eski sürümüne çevriliyor (6.0.00-1 => 5.2.013-2)
paket bağımlılıkları çözümleniyor...

Using ipython 0.9.1-1 linked to readline 5.2.013-2 (in base) on x86_64
i can't reproduce this problem.

you need to have readline from testing installed on your system.

[00:39] (tunix@penguix ~)$ y -Ss readline
testing/readline 6.0.00-1 [installed] (base)
GNU readline library
core/readline 5.2.013-2 [6.0.00-1 installed] (base)
GNU readline library

I file a FeatureRequest [ FS#15548 ] with patches fixing this issue.

I guess that this is fixed at this time, correct? So this ticket can be closed.
