Description:
Since I updated to kernel 2.6.30, I couldn't see any statistics from a cdc_ether device I have (a cablemodem) with ifconfig. Consequently, I don't know my current upspeed/downspeed/etc. And every program which reads these values like conky will always read zero.

Kernel 2.6.30
Module: cdc_ether

Steps to reproduce:
If you have a cablemodem and its interface is up, just check it with ifconfig.

Try using ethtool. The interface of usbnet has changed a bit in 2.6.30. I actually don't think ifconfig would be the right thing to use for link speeds. For ethernet it doesn't show up the link speed ether, so why should it do for a USB ethernet device?

I don't know but it showed them before. The only thing I know is conky is broken because of that.

If i weren't using conky, I wouldn't notice this.

Even worst:
# ethtool -S eth1
no stats available

Just in case: following the source code of conky I see it checks /proc/net/dev. And obviously the line of the cdc_ether interface only has zeros in every column.
