can provide more information about your system? (for example a dmesg) Looks like upstream issue, there are some pending bugs in 2.6.30 for next 2.6.30-stable series.

Okay, here is lspci, lsusb, dmesg logs.

I have the same experience on my laptop - it freezes randomly and does not respond to any keys and leaves no crash report or log. This especially happens with running wvdial for kernels 2.6.29 and 2.6.30. Seems there is something that crashes the laptop, maybe the usb mobile modem, which could mean there is something conflicting or buggy in the usb in the kernel. I have downgraded to kernel 2.6.28 of 2009-9-4. On the other hand then again, the nVidia MCP65 Audio device (HDA Intel - HDA nVidia) doesn't work for usb audio and the mic won't work. Kernel uses a guess method and loads snd-hda-intel, but the hda-intel-codec-conexant is not enabled in 2.6.28 kernels. Unknown hardware CX200561 (Hermosa). But not even 2.6.29 or .30 fixes the mic and usb audio. It seems only the codeces are enabled but not hardware support in the kernel. The laptop further seems to use nVidia MCP65 for about everything - guess it is some all-in-one motherboard brand.

I've had the weirdest and most unreproducible system freezes with 2.6.30 (including pre-releases), they were gone with 2.6.30.1. Can you confirm this as well?

yes, i still have this problem. I think it related to broadcom STA driver (wl)

My kernel troubles seem gone for the moment. Many of my problems had to do with changes in netcfg and other conf-files.
