Description:

Sometimes when I start a DVD with ogle, the screen stays black, but the sound works. A workaround is it to set the following parameter:
$ xvattr -a XV_AUTOPAINT_COLORKEY -v 1

Additional info:
extra/ogle 0.9.2-10
(I don't use any nvidia drivers but the standard nv graphic drivers with extra/xorg-server 1.6.1.901-1)

Steps to reproduce:
It's hard to reproduce. Sometimes I have no problems to watch a DVD, but sometimes the screen stays black.

random problems are crazy to track. only with ogle? what about others dvd players? can select an output driver with ogle?

Yes, it's only an ogle issue. I've never had problems with mplayer.
By the way, I start the movies like this:

$ogle /dev/cdrom

ogle's last version is pretty old so it might have problem with the newer X and video drivers. I just found this tarball that you could try:
http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/dist/ogle-0.9.2-cvs.tar.gz
it dates from 2006 instead of 2003 so it might work better.

I can't track it anymore because I use VLC now.
