ntp should use IPv6 if glibc supports it, even if built without --enable-ipv6, however it will not build with IPv6 support using glibc 2.10.1. When trying to use IPv6 addresses, ntpd will output errors like this to syslog: ntpd[24568]: getaddrinfo: "::1" invalid host address, ignored ntpd will neither connect to IPv6 servers nor listen on IPv6 addresses. Upstream bug: https://support.ntp.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1143 I propose adding the attached patch until this bug is fixed upstream. Additional info: ntp-4.2.4p7-1 glibc-2.10.1-2 Steps to reproduce: Try to use IPv6 addresses in ntp.conf, e.g. "server 2a01:198:200::2" or "restrict ::1" |
