Description: rdesktop right now uses libao (through alsa) to
play sound. i request changing the sound system to alsa
instead.

I mean adding a --with-sound=alsa to the PKGBUILD
Does that change mean that libao is no longer used and alsa will
be the only supported backend? I don't think any OSS4-using people
will like that change.
Yes, i guess it means exactly that. But no package in extra
supports OSS anyway.
mplayer supports oss, gstreamer supports oss, libao supports oss,
any app using libao supports oss. Though OSS is not the
recommended backend since we have alsa, removing OSS support from
packages completely means that OSS4 users won't have any sound
output at all.
Yeah probably a bad idea to disable it. I will request closure
myself.
