There's a patch available for rdesktop that adds an option
"-M" to disable applying mouse settings from the remote
machine. Basically, using this option means that mouse
clicks inside the rdesktop window will use the mouse button
mappings from the local X server and not those configured on
the Windows terminal server. This is useful for those of us
who mouse left-handed only some of the time and don't want
to reconfigure the mouse on remote Windows boxes each time
we switch.
I've been using this patch for a month now and haven't had any problems. This is the same patch that's applied to the "rdesktop-rawmouse" AUR package, which I maintain. (I'll have that package deleted if it's applied in extra.) The patch was also submitted upstream in August 2008 at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2038819&group_id=24366&atid=381349 , but it doesn't appear that anyone is looking at it. (This is where I got the patch in the first place.) |

I should clarify that this patch doesn't force any behavior
changes (or even any new code paths) on anyone who doesn't
actually use the "-M" option that it adds.
